Visit NOA

Editorial policy

Last updated:

Visit NOA is an independent travel publication about Northwest Argentina — Jujuy, Salta, Tucumán, Catamarca, Santiago del Estero and La Rioja. This page sets out how we decide what goes on the site, how we check it, and where our commercial relationships begin and end.

How we choose destinations

We cover a place when we think a traveller planning a trip to the region would be worse off not knowing about it. In practice that means the six provinces of the NOA and the places within them that are reachable, worth the journey, and possible to describe usefully.

We cover small places as well as famous ones, and we are willing to say when somewhere does not justify the detour. Nobody pays to be included. No province, municipality, tourism board or operator has any say in what we cover or how we describe it.

How we research

Our destination guides, province pages and itineraries are written from a combination of:

  • First-hand travel in the region.
  • Official sources — national and provincial parks authorities, tourism boards, transport operators, municipal information.
  • Published reference material, including maps, geographic and historical sources.
  • Conversations with people who live and work in the places we write about.

Where a fact is likely to change — opening hours, road conditions, whether a route needs a high-clearance vehicle, altitude, seasonal access — we say so rather than state it as permanent, and we encourage you to confirm locally before you rely on it.

We do not publish text generated by an AI model as if it were reported work. Where we use such tools at all, it is for drafting assistance and translation support, and a person is responsible for every published claim.

Bilingual publishing

Visit NOA is published in English and Spanish. The two versions are intended to say the same thing, adapted to each reader rather than translated word for word. Where one language version is more current than the other, the date on the page shows when it was last revised.

How we check and update

Every page carries a last-updated date. We revisit pages when we learn that something has changed, when a reader tells us, and in periodic reviews of the sections that date fastest.

We are a small publication, and we cannot verify everything continuously. Access conditions in the NOA change with the weather and the season. Treat our guides as a well-researched starting point, not as a live source of operational truth.

If you find something wrong, tell us at hello@visitnoa.com. We correct errors as soon as we can. Where a correction is significant, we note it on the page rather than changing it silently.

How we choose experiences

Bookable tours and activities on Visit NOA come from our booking partner’s catalogue, principally Viator. We select which to feature on editorial grounds: whether the experience fits the destination, whether it covers something a traveller there would plausibly want, and whether the information available on it is good enough to present honestly.

Commission rate plays no part in that selection, and no operator can pay us for a place or a position.

What we feature is limited to what our partner’s catalogue contains. Many excellent operators in the NOA do not sell through it, and their absence from our experience pages is not a judgement on them. Where an experience is better arranged locally, we say so in the editorial pages rather than pretend a booking link is the only route.

What the partner supplies, and what we do not check

On experience pages, the product name, description, images, price, rating, review count and availability come from the booking partner. We display them as supplied. We do not write them, we do not edit them, and we do not independently verify them.

In particular: we do not check partner reviews or ratings, and we never create a rating of our own. We do not aggregate partner reviews into a Visit NOA score, and we do not publish review or rating markup for experiences we have not independently assessed.

Prices and availability change constantly. Always confirm the current details on the partner’s page before booking.

Money, and the line it does not cross

Visit NOA earns affiliate commission when a reader books through one of our links. Our affiliate disclosure explains that in detail.

The rule we work to is simple: commission can influence what Visit NOA can afford to do, but not what it says. We do not accept payment for coverage, for a favourable description, for a position in a list, or for the removal of criticism. We do not accept free or discounted travel in exchange for coverage; where we accept any hosted arrangement at all, we disclose it on the page concerned.

If you ever think a recommendation here reads like an advertisement, tell us. That is a failure we want to know about.

Independence

Visit NOA is not owned by, funded by, or operating on behalf of Viator, Tripadvisor, any tour operator, or any public tourism body. [PLACEHOLDER: disclose here any ownership interest, sponsorship or other commercial arrangement the operator holds beyond the affiliate programmes described above, or confirm there is none.]
